From April 2018 Australian Outdoor Providers will have digital access to an ever increasing library of Outdoor Education resources as a result of a new partnership with Springer, one of the world’s largest academic publishing houses. The Journal of Outdoor and Environmental Education (JOEE), Australia’s premier outdoor education publication read by Outdoor Educators, was, until recently, published twice a year by the Outdoor Council of Australia. The new agreement sees the publishing of the JOEE passed to Outdoor Education Australia (OEA) in conjunction with Springer. The Outdoor Council of Australia is committed to provide ongoing support to the Journal’s development.
We are taking the JOEE to an exciting new level with the partnership brokered between Springer and the OEA. This will mean greater international exposure for researchers, easier online access for outdoor professionals and an increased commitment from Australian universities. The OCA will continue to support the JOEE and ongoing research to into getting more people outdoors – Jamie Bennett, President of the Outdoor Council of Australia.
JOEE will now in addition to its printed form, be available within the new OEA Digital Library which will be accessible via OEA’s website will comprise of 2 main sections:
Outdoor and Environmental Education Curriculum Resources
&
The Journal of Outdoor and Environmental Education
Another dynamic new part of the digital library is that for each issue OEA will produce six highlight videos where contributing authors will introduce their ‘paper’. This will be posted to OEA’s YouTube Channel, OEA TV, and be featured on the OEA website and on our Facebook page.
Access to JOEE will now be available to outdoor education schools, practitioners and tertiary students when they pay their annual membership fees. They will then be sent a confirmation email with their association’s password for that calendar year, along with the JOEE password for that calendar year. They then hop onto the Login to Library page to complete a short log-in process.
